Royally Grateful for our UK Partners and Crisis Volunteers
And, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are so proud of you!
Crisis Text Line is more than a service, it’s powering a global movement of empathy to end the pain so many people deal with every day. We’re grateful for every single person who has ever shared the number, signed up to become a Crisis Counselor, donated a dollar, or texted in to get support.
One of those people just happens to be the future King of England. It’s inspiring as hell to watch how the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, better known stateside as Prince William and Kate Middleton, along with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, are using their enormous influence to improve mental health.
ICYMI last May Shout powered by Crisis Text Line launched in the UK. Just six months later, Shout has 1,500 Crisis Volunteers and has exchanged six million messages with people in crisis. Like in the US, the majority of texters are under 25 and frequently mention suicide (37%), depression (36%), relationships (29%), anxiety (31%), isolation (19%) and self-harm (17%).
Today, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended Shout’s Crisis Volunteer celebration. It was kind of a big deal and made headlines all over the world. Check out the stories in People, Daily Mail, Telegraph, Evening Standard, and Hello for all the details.
“Catherine and I, and Harry and Meghan couldn’t be more proud of what Shout has accomplished. We’re hugely proud and hugely grateful to all of you for being part of this,” said The Duke of Cambridge.
And since there are, fortunately, way too many American Crisis Counselors to fit on a plane to London, here’s a video of the event.
